Greeting Geert Lovink:

Best wishes from the Mind Island of DAXONIA...my name is Bruce Breland long time
cybernautical artisan and member of the DAX Group. I am sending you a cc of a
message to Daxonian Susan Wrbican (photographer) welcoming her participation in
what we call the "net within a net".There will be eleven participants
interacting with the members of the A.E Memesis panel, and it goes like this:

>Once upon a time we worked out of the DAX Group studios which were located in
the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University - Pittsburgh, PA USA.

>The DAX organization was formed in the Fall of 1979. We were then known as the
Gekko Group and later we became the The Digital Art Exchange (The DAX Group). In
1991 we cut the tie that binds from the university mothership and began the
process of establishing ourselves as an independent trans-world artisans
network. The DAX Group (DAXONIA) free from the parochial constraints of an
institutional agenda and registered in the state of Washington as a non-profit
organization is currently engaged in the process of reinventing itself. Those
who know our work will recognize the names of Matt Wrbican,Cindy Snodgrass, Jeff
Brice, and Philip Rostek as members of the original DAX Group. They are now
joined by Jeff Breland who at one time operated a slowscan TV node in Baltimore,
Claire McConaughy, Rosy Beyelschmidt, Lilian Bell, John Heric, and Susan
Wrbican. Fine artists one and all representing the cities of Spokane and
Seattle, Washington; Mcminnville, Oregon; Tucson, Arizona; Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania; New York City; and Cologne,Germany...
		Memesis in process...this September 2,1996.

Hi Susan...welcome aboard the DCS SUNUGAL (Daxonian Cybernautical Ship) , its me
out here high upon Carnahan Hill north by east of the Moran Prairie....and here
is the ars electronica project info:

It has taken me a great deal of time, but here is the roster of the DAXONIAN
participants. The plan is simple:

We begin by introducing ourselves via email with short introductory remarks
relevent to the theme "Memesis, the future of evolution." (Step 1) Pick any
person on the list and send that person your introductory statement with cc's to
the other ten people.(Step 2) Include an additional cc addressed to the Ars
Electronica panel beginning September 2.

Address your (Step 2) cc email to Birgit Brandner < birgit@AEC.at > OR, use the
web address: < http://www.aec.at/meme/symp/ > OR go with < open-memesis@aec.at )
It would be a good idea to subscribe...look for the "how to" page entitled "A
Call for Participation in the Discussion".

There is some confusion among many of us here on the old DAXONIAN Mind Island on
exactly what the procedure is suppose to be, but that comes from island
isolation on my part (speaking strictly for myself of course.) Hopefully the
procedure for getting acquainted will serve to promote a ever-expanding sense of
community and caring which in itself is a positive step forward. In a message to
Matt Wrbican I made reference to the mode of connecting as if one was attempting
to learn a new way of lacing your shoes...the lines of connectivity will not be
as symmetrical like the lacing we are familiar with because the connecting lines
of energy transmission will appear more random and unruly, OK procedural example
as a "for instance, ie": (1) Lilian Bell may address her thoughts to (6) Claire
McConaughy who in turn might choose to share her thoughts with (5) John Heric,
etc., etc..keep in mind that we all share in the criss-cross of the
interaction...my idea is that we will in fact discover an ever expanding body of
information layer upon layer...as we proceed through the September 2-7 exercise.

Some of us due to circumstance may not be able to access WWW. If this is in fact
the case we can simple find out who has access and knowing that we can
"richochet" our thought bundles to the those DAXONIANS who would then forward
our thoughts on to the AEC panel people setting up the interaction.
