Hi Bruce and everyone out there (supposedly) on the Telematic Sea.

We know who Robert Filliou is, but what is the Ingenious Republic?
Does it have anything to do with Bob Dole or pineapples?

I think we may leave the PC, here in my office, for the day. See you
tomorrow. But first.....

 - I Love Daxonia -

In the NY Times Sunday Magazine (August 18, 1996), p. 14, Bill Safire
reprises an old column of "On Language" regarding 'Mondegreens', ie.
misheard words ("Laid him on the green"). Two men are discussing Beatles
lyrics: "I never understood why they sang 'The Girl with colitis goes by",
"oh, no, you mean 'the girl with kaleidoscope eyes'".This is originally
from 1979. A more recent example is from a 1995 issue of The New Yorker:
William Bennett was quoted describing the politics of Patrick Buchanan:
"Its a real S & M kind of thing" which should have been "a real us and them
kind of thing". When Phriar Phil read to me his poem on the telephone, I
thought he said "I Love Daxonia". It wasn't until several lines later that
I realized my mistake and burst out laughing. Technology can sometimes
inhibit or unintentionally expand understanding, I guess.

I LOVE DAXONIA (Insert HEART SIGN Here)
