Telegarden
2. - 6. 9.
Ars Electronica Center, network
Ken Goldberg/USA

This tele-robotic project allows www users to view and interact with a garden filled with living plants. Users can plant, water, and monitor the progress of seedlings via the tender movements of an industrial robot arm.

RADIO TNC
2. - 6. 9.
Designcenter, network
Beusch/Cassani/F

Radio TNC decontextualises and recontextualises symposium discussions and transmits them in the Design Center Linz via portable and fixed radios. The programmes of Radio TNC can be heard in the web as real audio live streams.

SOS RADIO TNC Beusch/Cassani's media fiction plays with the myths surrounding the Web and invites the Internet community to solve the mystery of a serious Web crash, in which the stars and webmasters of Radio TNC, Mike and Coal, have disappeared without trace into the labyrinth of the network. They are the recipients of the first interactive cyber-memorial in the world, which will be solemnly dedicated during the Festival. Inscriptions can be engraved on the memorial via a Public Engraving Site (PES).

Kunst & Politik
2. - 6. 9.
Ars Electronica Quarter, Offenes Kulturhaus, Network
Robert Adrian/A

Art and art collections in the Third Reich. A discussion based on four masterpieces of European art and their chequered history of ownership and power structures. This forms the core of the network project by Robert Adrian, which is tied up with the Light-and-Sound-Installation Deep Blue, to be seen at the Offenes Kulturhaus.

SoundLives - The House of Sond
2. - 6. 9.
Ars Electronica Center,
Design Center Linz, Network
Winfried Ritsch/A

Sounds wander in the form of independent data groups autonomously in the network, form communities, reproduce, mutate and disappear. The basis of their "existence" is computers linked via a data network. With the aid of the software The House of Sound, users can listen-in to this sound world and exert an influence on it by so doing. They are thus observers and nurturers at the same time. In collaboration with the Institut fuer Elektronische Musik der Musikhochschule Graz.

The Egg in the Internet
2. - 6. 9.
Designcenter, Network
Netband/NL

What happens when a living organism takes up residence in the Internet? When an egg is laid in the Internet? And the Internet bears the responsibility for this life? Netband presents the model of an interface which could make it possible to intervene in the life-space of the dweller in the Internet.

etoy
Golden Nica 96 - WWW
3. - 6. 9.
Designcenter
10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

The technology-tourist is evasively assimilated into a trap configured by the etoy.GANG. In this labyrinth, the fascination of manipulating and hacking the search systems becomes The Story.*
With an action lasting four months, etoy demonstrated the *space* behind the popular interfaces of the World Wide Web. The weak points in the system and the twilight zone of the medium formed the place of action. Search-server databases became a stage for self-presentation. etoy.SOFTWARE AGENTS controlled the systematic illusion and hijack of hapless net-travellers: 250.000 art-hostages in March 1996.
