New faces in the Digital Musics Jury of Prix Ars Electronica: One of them is Ned Bouhalassa, born in 192 in France, but living in Montreal. He used to be a jazz electric-bass player, but got bored by all that jazz and switched to studying composition with teachers like Francis Dhomont and Kevin Austin. He loves the cinema, science fiction and visual arts and so since 1995 he writes soundtracks for different medias: for film, TV, dance and commercials. His music is not so easily defined: You find classical electro-acoustic works as well as elements of techno. He has been awarded a number of international prizes.
Fast ganz neu besetzt ist dieses Jahr die Jury der Kategorie Digital Musics: Einer der neuen Juroren ist Ned Bouhalassa, 1962 in Frankreich geboren und in Kanada aufgewachsen. Als es ihm nicht mehr genügte, nur mehr Jazz zu spielen, begann er, bei Kevin Austin und Francis Dhomont Komposition zu studieren. Seine Vorliebe gilt dem Kino, der Science Fiction und den visuellen Künsten und so schreibt er seit 1995 Soundtracks alle möglichen Medien: für Film und Fernsehen genauso wie für Tanzperformances oder Werbespots. Seine Musik lässt sich nicht so wirklich einordnen: Klassisch-Elektroakustisches findet sich da genauso wie Elemente des Techno.
