This year, the former Prix Ars Electronica category '.net', which was launched in 1995, has undergone a complete redesign, clearly visible in the new names of the category 'Net Vision/Net Excellence'. This new category recognizes the increasing significance of the Internet by opening up the category to the whole range of current developments and trends on the Internet. For the first time, two Golden Nicas and four Awards of Distinction will be awarded for outstanding cultural impact on the Internet.
The new concept was spearheaded by Tina Cassani & Bruno Beusch (bc), founding directors of Paris-based new-media label TNC Network. They are the producers and curators of the Electrolobby, the new Ars Electronica Festival sector for digital culture & lifestyle, launched last year .
Auf völlig neue Beine gestellt wurde dieses Jahr die 1995 eingeführte Kategorie '.net' – was sich schon im neuen Namen der Kategorie widerspiegelt: 'Net Vision/Net Excellence'. Dadurch soll den aktuellen Entwicklungen und Trends im Internet Rechnung getragen werden. Zum ersten Mal werden in dieser Kategorie zwei Goldene Nicas und vier Auszeichnungen vergeben.
Federführend bei der Umformulierung dieser Kategorie waren Tina Cassani & Bruno Beusch (bc), die das New-Media-Label TNC Network in Paris betreiben. Vergangenes Jahr haben sie die Electrolobby beim Festival Ars Electronica kuratiert und produziert.
