'The epicentre of web design' – that's how has been called shift.jp.org, a web zine, which is renowned for its collection of links to all the big names of the web design scene. Shift has been launched by Taketo Oguchi, 30, of Sapporo, Japan, who this year is one of the 19 nominating experts of Prix Ars Electronica's Net Vision/Net Excellence category. The proliferation of personal design sites has allowed this community to develop into a global design network through e-mail and site links, but Oguchi himself has never drawn a line between the Net community and the real community. One of the main aims of Shift is to translate international information to Japan and Japanese information to the rest of the world. One of the highlights of Shiftis its cover graphics, which are produced every month by another designer. Recently Oguchi has produced a graphic collection, IMGSRC100 and Shift Factory, a label to distribute artworks by creators on the Net, dealing not only garage fonts and T-shirts but also artworks such as CD-ROM and books.

Gestartet hat dieses Web-zine Taketo Oguchi, ein 30-jähriger Designer aus Sapporo/Japan, der heuer einer der 19 nominierenden Experten in der Kategorie Net Vision/Net Excellence ist. Rund um dieses Web-zine hat sich inzwischen eine ganzes Design-Netzwerk via E-Mail- und Site-Links gebildet, wobei die Grenze zwischen Net-Community und realer Community für Oguchi nicht existent ist. Einer der Schwerpunkte von Shift ist es, internationale Information nach Japan und Japanisches in die Welt zu bringen. Bekannt ist Shift vor allem aber auch für sein Cover-Design: Jeden Monat gestaltet ein anderer Designer die Grafik. Parallel dazu hat Oguchi IMGSRC100 gestartet, eine Buchpublikation, die eine Grafik-Kollektion mit hundert Arbeiten zeigt, und Shift Factory, ein Label, das Netz-Kunst, T-Shirts und Posters vertreibt.
