Talking to the founder of electronic music festival phonoTAKTIK and electronic platform rhiz: Electronic music expert Peter Rantasa talks about 'escape paths' of art, the economic framework of electronic music and his understanding of political work.
Since the year 2000 Peter Rantasa - educated in communications technology and experimental music - is executive director of mica - music information center Austria. In the interview he combines experience from artistic work with a background in production and curatorial work and theoretical reflection. In the field of electronic music many of the aspects of the TAKEOVER seem to have shown early on: mixed careers, changes in creative work through the use of computers, economic conditions of production. Rantasa describes the larger context in the history of art in the 20th century, points critically to deficits in political awareness and understanding, but still looks optimistically towards the 21st century as one marked by cooperation instead of competition.
