Hello All !
Time to react...
(sorry english is not my mother language)
War ? isnt' it a men affair ? Do somebody know a case in the human history
where women have declared war ? I would be very curious to know the motives
of such a behavior if it has already existed...
I simply cannot understand either why nor how can some women be capable of
fighting just like men and bring out their contribution to any kind of
human destruction ((
Don't see here any feminism, just think of it guys !
I am lucky to live in a democratic and peacefull country "le pays de la
liberte et des droits de l'homme". I am 28 years old, i belong to the 70's
generation and have grown up with this idea of being 30 in the year 2000.
I also grew up with television, advertising, overflow of information and
economic crisis... anyway i could not get used to this and i still feel
very uncomfortable being in from of my tv set watching the misery of our
world, especially people starving whatever the way it happens, being cool
in my home sweet home coming back from work. Sometimes i really feel
unhappy to be so lucky. I don't feel comfortable neither reading the
contributions of my south european neighbors, from serbia, croatia,
algeria...
Now i go on living with the internet of course, but also with the souvenir
still present of Tchernobyl, Krautzfeld Jacob, Aids, contaminated blod,
facism, war in the Gulf, war in Yougoslavia, terrorism in Eire, Algeria,
Egypt, Israel, France ...
Few years ago we dared to think that the internet could be an alternative
to manipulation. It has been, but i fear that it is already over except for
a very restricted community or initiatives.
Does information forges the opinion or is it the opinion which feeds
information ? Does the information make the event or is it the event which
makes information ? Many examples in the recent history of information or
wars had shown that sensasionalism has no price in front of truth...
So now I do not trust any more information as soon as it has the weight we
know in economy ( it has been a long time now i realized that radio
programs were not entirely "live sessions" ;-) !! - this has changed many
things concerning my relationship to information).I also remember that more
recently when i was studying "communication culture and politics" my
teachers refused the topic of my research dealing with 'information on
television and its consequences on people's state of mind' pretending that
it wasn't "cultural" enought !!
INFO WAR for me does not mean war on tv. It is visible almost everyday when
even far from visible civilization you can see here in france (in the well
known lovely countryside) advertising for the national front...
For the moment we are celebrating the anniversary of May 68 with a lot of
very official commemorations just as if this revolution has changed for
better our way of living...i am just observing that people under 30 are now
kind of disarmed like our grand-parents being witnesses of the resurection
of facisms especially in europe and south of france... Of course it is
linked with our history, but i do think that mass media have played a major
role in this situation allowing extremisms to express their ideas and
positions in the name of freedom of speech...
I agree with Kasper that the access to information should bring out
something else than pain BUT i think that as soon as it has become a money
of exchanges, information should be now considered like a new kind of
weapon when most of its actors are trying to make us think that new
technologies can save and reenforce the nature of human relationships...
What about medical information that cannot be accessed by non-initiated ?
as information contributes to a certain kownledge, and as knownledge has
become a value not to say the definition a social status, it's almost
natural that humans want to keep it secretly and make money with it...
INFORMATION has declared the WAR OF NERVES
Sorry to have been so long !
Sincerely yours,
emmanuelle.
