xxero was born in Berlin, 2001, at a meeting of the international mailing list FACES, the most prominent network of women working in new media around the world. The aim is to use a text-based MOO to create a space for collaborative work and discussions of current topics, which will dock at various festivals and media events. In this way, virtual collaborations can link up with local women to present topical projects with a strong theoretical foundation, both strengthening the local groups and increasing the presence of women in media events. Preparing the launch are: Aileen Derieg, Valentina Djordjevic, Kathy Rae Huffmann, Diana McCarty, Ushi Reiter, Elfi Sonnberger, Doris Weichselbaumer, Kerstin Weiberg and many others.
