Roland Blach (D) has completed his studies of Control Engineering in Stuttgart in 1992 and since then works at the Virtual Environments Lab at the Fraunhofer IAO, Stuttgart (D). His work focuses on the development of the virtual reality core system software Lightning / Personal Immersion. For the last two years Roland worked on the government funded research project INVITE with the subject of “Interaction with information structures in immersive environments”. He was involved in the conception and development of medial explorations in immersive environments, such as the “IFG Ulm grant: Design of immersive worlds” (with A. Rößler, E. Stimpfig, D. Reuter; 1996-1997), ”Jerg-Ratgeb painter” (with project group Ratgeb; 1997-2000), “Uzume” (with P. Gemeinboeck, Nicolaj Kirists; 2000-2002), and the “visual ... piano – real time image music” (with K.-L. Theinert 2002-).

Petra Gemeinböck (A) is an architect and new media artist. She has received her master’s degree in architecture from the University of Stuttgart (D) and her MFA from the Electronic Visualization Laboratory at the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA. In her virtual environments Petra explores the issues of presence and identity formation in relation to computer controlled systems. Her works have been exhibited internationally at venues such as the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, USA, the Siggraph 2002 art gallery, San Antonio, USA, the Ars Electronica Center, Linz, Austria, and the InterCommunication Center, Tokyo, Japan. Petra has a university teaching position for Reactive Architecture at the Technical University of Vienna.
