Digital Avant-Garde / Prix Selection Inter Dis-Communication Machine Kazuhiko Hachiya (J)
Through the device of the “Inter Dis-Communication Machine,” two participants exchange their visual perspectives, which forces them to see things the other person’s way. This project deals with the fact that the purportedly real world is merely a construction out of subjective perception mechanisms and actually does not exist in a binding form. Each machine is equipped with a head-mounted display (HMD) and a backpack. But the wearer of a HMD sees only the perspective of the other participant; thus, an exchange of perspectives and perceptions takes place.
