Lecture of the curators of the Ars Electronica Animation Festival Christine Schöpf, Dietmar Offenhuber (AT)
More than 450 films, VX works and advertising spots were submitted to the 2005 Prix Ars Electronica for prize consideration. For the first time at Ars Electronica, the 2005 Festival will present not only the 15 prizewinning works but also a diversified selection of motion pictures that illustrate the state of the art in visual design and current trends in cinematic content, film technology and the movie industry. The Selection Prix Ars Electronica 2005 invites viewers to go on an exciting and passionate journey through leading-edge technological developments, visual design, envisioning scientific phenomena, artistic experimentation, and storytelling with a wide variety of objectives. The 2005 Prix Ars Electronica’s Computer Animation Festival will showcase a “best of” selection from this year’s competition and a curated program compiled especially for the festival, among others the animation show by Japan Media Arts Festival Tokyo.
