TANA BANA - Opening Gerfried Stocker, Reinhard Kannonier, Geetha Narayanan
Linz's University of Art serves annually as a venue for exhibitions by art colleges from all over the world that are engaged in the teaching of media art and media culture. The guest institution in 2005 is the Srishti School of Art Design and Technology in Bangalore, India. The exhibition is entitled “Tana-Bana,” which can be translated literally as ”warp and weft” and is meant to evoke the ideal of the “integration of communities or societies”.This exhibition shows how the primary indicators of the success of a society are the freedoms that that community enjoys, those freedoms that further the society’s capacity to help itself and to design its own environment. The exhibition features works by students, graduates and artists-inresidence. Additional offerings include an accompanying program of seminars and discussions and a performance on Linz's Main Square.
