The Ars Electronica Campus was launched with TAKEOVER in 2001 and designed with continuity in mind as an international exhibition space and discussion forum for those involved in education in the field of media art. This year, the campus will be carried on by the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne. Works by students majoring in Audiovisual Media will be shown and discussed. The contributions from the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne—an exhibition and a series of films, videos and discussions—are meant to provide impetus for a process of reflection about the period of New Media that has just come to an end. A small, dynamic institution not only as a model for the study and practice of audiovisual media but also as a proxy for media policymaking—two parallel narratives.
