Messa di Voce
Tmema (USA), Jaap Blonk (NL), Joan La Barbara (USA)

Two fascinating vocal stylists and two extraordinary software artists create an unprecedented symbiosis of sound and image, of real voices and virtual graphics. Software that has been custom-designed for this project converts every vocal nuance into highly expressive real-time graphics. The voices transformed into graphics thus become an instrument with which the singers, in turn, can play. Every manipulation of the graphics directly modifies the acoustic playback-thus, there is a cycle of interaction that fully integrates the performers into an ambience consisting of sound, virtual 3-D
objects and real-time processing.
