Ashok Sukumaran (IN)
Prix Ars Electronica 2007 “Interactive Art. Golden Nica.”
Ashok Sukumaran (IN), born in 1974, has a degree in architecture from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, and an MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles. Many of Ashok’s projects have imagined cross-pollinations across contemporary computer-based art, kinetic art, telegraphy, early and pre-cinema, and architecture. This approach brings together low- and hi-tech, to “new media” conceptions of virtuality, networks and participation. Ashok’s work been shown widely in recent years and has received honors, including the 2006 Unesco Digi-Arts first prize.
