Open Burble
Usman Haque (UK) (with Rolf Pixley and Seth Garlock)

Prix Ars Electronica 2007 “Interactive Art. Honorary Mention.”

In Open Burble, members of the public come together to compose, assemble and control an immense rippling, glowing, bustling “Burble” that sways in the evening sky in response to the crowd interacting below. This massive structure, the form of which the public has designed themselves, exists on such a large scale that it is able to compete visually in an urban context with the skyscrapers that surround it.

Usman Haque (UK) has created responsive environments, interactive installations, digital interface devices and mass-participation performances. He has been a guest researcher at the Interaction Design Institute, Ivrea (IT) artist-in-residence at the International Academy of Media Arts and Sciences (JP) and has also worked in the USA, UK and Malaysia. http://www.haque.co.uk
