Masaki Fujihata (JP)
Prix Ars Electronica 2007 “Hybrid Art. Honorary Mention.”

Masaki Fujihata (JP), born in 1956, is a media artist and a professor at the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He started his career as a digital artist for computer graphics and animation in the early 80s. In the early 90s he entered the field of interactive arts, focusing on GPS technology, to change the use of this military technology into a medium for perceiving ourselves as an artistic apparatus. Between 2003 and 2005, a series of his works focused on reconfiguring the visual system using a panoramic camera, a virtual mirror and a laser scanning system.
