Prix Ars Electronica 2007 Honorary Mention “Digital Communities”
On September 9, 1999, four students from the Social Academy launched Wiener Tafel with a starting capital of ATS 5000 (€ 350) and a private mobile phone. In 2006 our Internet platform had over 1000 users; we have some 100 regulars on our staff who supply 60 social facilities. 700 tonnes of food changed hands last year, thus providing for approximately 6000 people.
