The very best of Ars Electronica 1979 - actual
chic-o-mat
Kate Burgener (CH/UK), Juerg Luedi (CH), Michael Nussbaum (D)

The chic-o-mat lets you (virtually) change your appearance, age and gender. This is done by overlaying an automatically produced self-portrait with the image of another person. It’s as if one were peering into a mirror and suddenly encountered a face that’s familiar but at the same time rather strange. The chic-o-mat thus offers users a personal, interactive way to conduct research on identity, difference and representation.
