Synthetic Performances revives actions that have attained renommé in art history and restages them in artificial worlds like Second Life. Eva and Franco Mattes’ avatars—outfitted with the couple’s physiques and facial features, perform all of the actions themselves. Art lovers can experience the performances online, either watching them live or viewing a video documentation of them afterwards.
