Branching Morphogenesis Jenny E. Sabin (US) Open Days at the Ars Electronica Center, January 2 to 4, 2009
Jenny Sabin observes the structures of cells, their fibrous interconnective tissue and the forces at work among them. These observations inspired her large-scale, walk-through sculpture consisting of 75,000 cable ties. She created it in collaboration with cell biologist Dr. Peter Lloyd Jones. Sabin is both an artist and a researcher. She combines the fascination of science with the beauty of an object, and works on potential architectural applications of biological processes.
