Humphrey
HUMPHREY Virtual reality technologies bring the age-old human dream of flight closer to fruition than ever before. The simulator has come to replace the balloon, helicopter, airplane and hang-glider. Whereas it is still inconvenient and uncomfortable to squeeze into the enclosed and darkened cabins of conventional simulators, Humphrey actually does allow passengers to lift off and float freely in midair. The virtual reality-station, Futurelab Flytrap, allows the visitor a view of a potential future of the Ars Electronica Center. The flying time traveler explores the museums building in its original proportions and can interact with many attractions. Possible further developments of already standing situations are being anticipated and visualized, where the vision of a digital age turns into a bodily perceivable experience.
