Honorary Mention Prix Ars Electronica 2008 "u19 - freestyle computing"

Sitting in front of the PC is passé. The “Lanpe” (tablelamp) can get connected to the Internet via wireless LAN and check e-mail accounts for new messages, monitor stock prices, function as an alarm clock, and turn on a coffee machine via e-mail. As the desired alerts, the user can choose from among a variety of different signaling modes (flashing light, steadily glowing light, etc.) and colors (red, yellow or green) and also hook up to a conventional electrical outlet.
