Robo
Christopher Sax (AT)
Honorary Mention Prix Ars Electronica 2008 "u19 - freestyle computing"

The Robo project was launched in a physics class just a few weeks prior to the Prix Ars Electronica deadline and arrived on the absolutely last day for entrants to submit their work. The assignment: to construct a fully functional robot capable of independently navigating towards a light source. The challenge: to do it without the use of a commercially available robot kit. Christopher Sax utilized an aluminum chassis, drilled the holes himself and custom crafted the individual body parts. In building his first robot, he had to deal with a whole series of headaches ranging from faulty wiring to microcontroller programming errors.
