Ars Electronica 2000 Brave New Porn Sergio Messina/I
Brave New Porn explores the triteness and surprises of "sex on the net", off the beaten track of business and glamour. Visual documents of the extensive variety and opulence of human desires. The installation is a complementary part of Sergio Messina"s symposium lecture, giving an overview of the second wave of pictorial sex online. Tired of Pamela Anderson and the likes, online pornography users (which account for 80% of the whole web traffic) are producing and exchanging original material (carefully categorized) that questions concepts such as pornography, beauty and radical behaviour, while incarnating - in a quite unexpected way - many of the visions of internet pioneers.
