The very best of Ars Electronica 1979 - actual
littleRunner
Andreas Gerstmayr
Honorary Mention „u19-freestyle computing“ 2008

littleRunner is a 2D jump-’n’-run game that includes a home-brew game editor. The action figure—Tux the Penguin, the Linux mascot—is sent through the game’s respective levels via keyboard commands. The principle of play in littleRunner is derived in part from Super Mario. Andreas Gerstmayr wrote his game in C# and, in doing so, placed great emphasis on object-oriented programming (OOP). He used Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition as his integrated development environment (IDE).
