EVOLTA Tomotaka Takahashi
In what was perhaps the most impressive publicity stunt of 2008, a 17-centimeter tall, 130-gram Panasonic Evolta robot hoisted itself up a 530-meter length of rope suspended next to a sheer rock wall at the Grand Canyon. The feat took a grueling 6 hours and 45 minutes. As mascot for Panasonic’s EVOLTA battery (“EVOIA” in Europe), the robot effectively demonstrated not only the long-lasting output of its power cells but also the playful, innovative work done by its designer, Tomotaka Takahashi. Now, you can admire the little robot’s guts and endurance as it scales the heights between levels at the AEC.
Evolta will be making a guest appearance at the Ars Electronica Center January 2-4, 2009.
