Kohei Asano, Kosuke Matsuura (JP)
Funky Pixels
Open Days at the Ars Electronica Center, January 2 to 4, 2009

Find out what happens when you let it rain paper! Kohei Asano usually uses three terms to describe his works: communication, community, computer-interaction. Asano’s installations always call for activity on the part of those partaking of them—painting, dancing or singing, for instance. The artist regards the computer as an aid to get installation visitors into contact with one another and to bestow a shared experience upon them. At his installations, strangers come together and briefly experience a feeling of community.
