John Maeda (USA)

John Maeda develops software to realize his conceptualizations of new forms of visual expression. For example, the contents of a packet of salt are strewn on the glass screen of a scanner and a series of scans is made of them. Then, his custom-developed software determines the number of salt crystals (approximately 70,000). In this way, images of everyday objects are broken down into pixels and formed into optically new works of art. Art as code.
