Open Lab 2002
Adrian David Cheok (National University of Singapore), Prof. Kato (Hiroshima City University) and Bruce Thomas (University of South Australia), three of the most important researchers in the field of Augmented Reality (AR), made guest appearances at the Ars Electronica Futurelab in September 2002. After working together successfully during the 2002 Ars Electronica Festival in conjunction with the Pixelspaces Conference and the Ars Electronica Futurelab’s OpenLab presentations, an agreement has been concluded to carry on further cooperative ventures.
After the idea of a joint project was initiated by Adrian David Cheok, Futurelab staff member Christopher Lindinger recently traveled to Singapore to work out concrete details with Cheok and to deliver an address to students at the National University. The objective of this collaboration is to combine AR technologies developed at the Futurelab with the latest results to come out of Cheok’s and Prof. Kato’s laboratories. The outcome of this exciting constellation will be presented as part of the program of the 2003 Ars Electronica Festival.
