Because of the computer, I enjoy the immediacy of so much color so easily achieved. My approach tends to be more expressive, and because of this, I mostly avoid the easy subtlety and gradual fills of computer generated imagery.

I work toward a layered mixing of color. For me, one advantage of the computer as a tool is that I am able to experiment with an image or color variation that I would not have the patience to deal with, if I were using only paint and canvas. While using the computer, I mentally treat the tools as if I were using paint on canvas. Once involved with an image development, one forgets about whether it is a mouse or a brush in one's hand, and one is totally engrossed in the quality of change upon the image. The computer screen fills the range of my vision. I use the pixel paint application as if it were 'magic paint' with its sudden ability to always mix good color and transparencies. The computer's ability to quickly reproduce complex images encourages even further exploration of imagery.
