HONORARY MENTION
Wired Couple at Table Big
Victor Acevedo

Victor Acevedo, born 1954 in Los Angeles/CA; professional artist for 9 years; from 1979 to 1981 Acevedo studied traditional painting and drawing at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA; Acevedo adopted computer graphics as his primary medium. His work composites his own photography with 3D computer generated models and digital painting. Acevedo has exhibited in many group shows throughout the United States.

"The computer as a medium is for the artist a kind of hybrid of painting and sculpture. '3'dimensional' objects can be built and moved as desired in a graphical 3D-space, as well as expressively textured, lit or metamorphosized. The work has been described as a visual memoir of 'everyday cymatic precessional resonance', that is to say there is an intent to make visible the ephemeral crystallization of 'localized psychic energy networks' which exist in non-parallel association with people and their environment. These networks are represented by the overlay or interweave of regular geometric abstraction on or with late 20th century genre subjects." (Victor Acevedo)

Acevedo is interested in the implications of how micro and macrocosmic structuring principles might operate or be mirrored in human perception. Each image is a scene from every day life, however charged with a subjective and emotional aura. Into each image is introduced a semi-spherical enclosure which alters the viewer's perceptual and depth cues in a way which is both Non-Euclidean and Non-Cubist. With the study of Synergetics Geometry and the use of computers, Acevedo hopes to contribute to the exploration of "uncharted" graphical languaging in fine art.
