HONORARY MENTION
Flash Animation
BG XIX
In a workshop during the summer semester with their teacher Stefan Sonvilla-Weiss, the pupils of class 5a learned how to produce Flash animations. Flash is a vector-based computer program which enables users to produce very small image files and these can be loaded onto the web.
Everything has to go quickly: the loading of images onto the web and the transmission of messages. Communication is changing. There are SMS pictures on the web and on our mobile phones. We can produce simple pictures using the characters on the keys. In an experimental short film, Flash animations—whose use has become customary on the web—turn into a humorous collage of familiar picture messages.
The sound is a mixture of Dadaist onomatopoeia and computer language.
