HONORARY MENTION
individual interface
Georg Gruber
The page “inflex.org” of Georg Gruber generates itself individually on each computer that visits it. Data, like the selectring technical properties and the actual time, flow into the design, so a page will never have the same appearance.
Don’t we all have the desire to be treated completely personally for once, and to find a small piece of chocolate on our pillow… Well, to be truthful, inflex.org can’t provide the chocolate, but a visit to this page is most definitely extraordinary and individual, because it generates itself entirely individually on each computer that visits it. By selecting technical properties, for instance the operating system or screen resolution of a user, and transforming them into ASCII values, these properties can be used as parameter for designing the visual interface, such as the form, position, size or rotation of specific objects.
Data, like the actual time, also flow into the design, so a page will never have the same appearance in the morning as it will in the evening. But also users themselves can effectively influence the design. For example, if a user describes him or herself as systematic, the interface of the exchange(?) will be much more orderly than if the user describes him or herself as chaotic. Hence the reflection of a person’s personality is pitted against technology and these two poles merged into one.
