The germination of themes explored in Ambarchi's VPRO radio appearance and subsequent Mort Aux Vaches Song Of Separation recording, take root and flourish in this live performance recorded in Nijmegen on June 14, 2001, using one guitar and a handful of guitar effect pedals.

Recorded recently after losing his father, Triste is Ambarchi's meditation on growth, decay and regeneration.

The first side begins with small tones emerging from silence. Here Ambarchi employs a kind of tonal pointillism to explore the relativity of various frequencies cocooned between silences. These disembodied notes are incrementally layered, taking on new value and meaning as they beat and resonate in sympathy with each other, culminating in glorious harmonic clusters.

As the second side begins these tones coalesce into one note, shimmering with harmonic resonance. Stasis then erupts into cataclysmic, chaotic entropy. The cycle of formation and disintegration resumes when the record is turned over, to begin again.
