HONORARY MENTION
Ellipsoid
Nobuo Takahashi

The daily existence of the people who live in Tokyo is really quite monotonous and evokes a mechanical image. The appearance of these people, faithfully performing their meticulously organized duties, is much like that of an efficiently operating factory production line. Working in organizations that value productivity above all else, they suppress their personal interests and behave as though their every waking activity is devoted to the development of the organization.

However, this really is nothing more than a stage production, a reenactment of the ideal citizen of days gone by: the ideal expected of people during Japan's period of high economic growth.Today, these people, while they may outwardly affect that same old appearance, desire their own individual success and harbor in their hearts great ambition. Resistance to stale, old attitudes and desire for success will eventually clear away all obstacles to progress and create a new order of things. This production is a computer graphics feature which depicts, through the various activities of the main characters, the dawning of a new age for humanity. The vigorous movement of the computer-generated characters symbolizes the lives of people inexorably proceeding toward the next epoch. The sudden explosion releases the people from their monotonous, mechanical existence and exhorts them to renewed success.
