HONORARY MENTION
Matki Wandalki
Felix Kubin
In this solo work I combine several influences from styles ranging between entertainment music forms (swing, exotica, disco and techno pop) and more experimental forms (noise, science fiction and electroacoustic music). Throughout my life, I have been made aware of radioactivity, and as a result, the feeling I associate with x-rays leaks through to affect my preferences for certain sounds. I often feel like I am working in a chemical laboratory.
Some sounds and compositional approaches will be familiar in the basic structure of the piece. But on the whole I am interested in broken song characteristics and open forms with more disruptive breaks and harmonies. The live presentation of my music is very important to me. I play a lot of melodies and noises live with synthesizers and keyboards, while rhythms and sequences back up my spine from MD. The live gig is more comparable to an active punk concert than to a more passive listening experience.
My background is in experimental music, animation film and art. I work on the borders of pop and abstract music, and also implement experimental radio plays and collage techniques. The most important component for me is the element of surprise.
