From November 2005 to January 2006 we worked on the project Comic Life. Under the musical direction of Prof. Thomas Juen we rehearsed a four-voice canon. Comic Life features typical sounds from comics, such as roar, splash, yank, and so on. The hardest part of the project was learning the sounds by heart and to know when each voice had to enter into the canon. When we had finally mastered it, we recorded it in our assembly hall using five microphones. On the computer we then chose and edited together what was best.

In our art class we made an animated film to accompany our rap. First we drew comics using the silhouettes of famous characters like Mickey Mouse, Bart Simpson, Sponge Bob and Snoopy. Then we gave them a bright pop-art look with felt pens. Afterwards we drew, scanned and processed individual onomatopoeic sounds on the computer. At the same we photographed ourselves and animated our faces for the “choir” in the film. Over the next few lessons, we connected all the images together into a cartoon. We particularly concentrated on making the pictures and sound fit.
