HONORARY MENTION
Renkan
Nobuo Takahashi

According to the “2005 metropolis and districts standard price of land” announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Nagoya has the third highest rate of increase in land prices for commercial areas in Japan.

Nagoya, a quarter of which was destroyed by fire in the Second World War, launched a reconstruction city project quickly after the war. It became a worldwide manufacturing heartland and now has a population of about 2,200,000. The opening of the Central Japan International Airport and the success of the Aichi World Exposition and the like have given it a vibrant economy.

Renkan is a 100-second computer animation describing the vitality of manufacturing in Nagoya. I used procedural animation to abstract the behavior peculiar to the production lines.
