During the first lessons we learned something about film theory and a bit of film history. After we had studied all about making a professional film – from the script, storyboard and sound, to camera settings and camera movement – we split into groups. Immediately we were confronted with the first big question: What should our film be about? A second question quickly followed: What should our film consist of? We collected ideas, some good and some less so, and in the end developed a story together; we also decided to use modelling clay.We quickly drew the storyboard and then it was time to make everything! Creating the figures and backdrops required patience, strong nerves, improvisational skills and a bit of money. With a good camera and still more patience, we began photographing; little mishaps were inevitable, of course, which meant at times we even had to repeat scenes because the entire set had collapsed. After finishing the photos, we strung them together, set them to sound and “perfected” them. To see our film – “trademark: in-house production/teamwork” – for the first time was a fantastic feeling!
