HONORARY MENTION
Yu-Tian Cong He
Qin Yi
Yu-Tian Cong He is composed for voice, pipa (a traditional Chinese instrument) and interactive electronics. The idea of the work comes from a ceremony of Lamas chanting. The live performance of singer and the pipa soloist is recorded, transformed, replayed overlapping, with frequency-shift delay, reverb and spatialization through an eight-channel system, which creates a rich space full of various sounds where audiences have placed themselves. It is worth noting that no pre-recorded sound effect is used in this work. I also expect to provide a structure to allow the dialogue between the performers and their multiple mirror variants produced by the live electronics and finally towards a harmonic.
