I'd had the idea - or story - for my animation for quite a while. But because of school and my talent for leaving everything till the last minute, I had to spend all the last days at my laptop to get it done. I'd gotten it into my head to photograph my drawings and then add them to real-life backgrounds (e.g. my room). Though because they were drawn on the computer, much of my brushstroke was lost. Implementing this idea was loads of work. I had to constantly make drawings and then photograph them. Afterwards I put them together using After Effects. Though what really made it fun was the fact that I hardly knew how to use the program. First I had to spend a few frustrating hours, even days, learning how to use it. Right, this meant a lot of "learning by doing".

For this reason and because I was so pressed for time, a large part of my well-thought-out story was lost, as I could only produce the first scene. The story revolves mostly around the two sisters, around the idea of being there for each other, and around jazz. And although I only made this first scene, I believe the film has a very human quality. Shocked by her parents' quarrel, a little girl seeks refuge in her sister's room, where she is then lulled to sleep as her sister plays the saxophone.
