The FLY BanD! is a funky music group from New York. With the distinguished feeling of rhythm and groove, they make great sounds using daily goods as musical instruments. Polygon Pictures was one of the first companies to apply realistic television aspects to its work, producing five short CG animation pieces expressly for TV, built upon different themes. The Fly BanD! is one of these short CG animation pieces.
The project was named “Digital Adult Sesame”, because we wanted to highlight the fact that the contents could be enjoyed by adults as well as children. On the technical side, we came up with an original project management system called DWARF (Digital Work in process & Asset Routing Foundation). Up until that point, such mammoth projects, which involved many people working simultaneously on large quantities of data over a long period of time, had been overseen by people, which inevitably entailed considerable human resources costs and inefficiency. DWARF computerizes this process, thus realizing sophisticated production management system in sync with the future of CG production.
