Linz continues with the impetus from the Capital of Culture year 2009 to present a compact selection of generations of artists significantly working in Austria today. Together, the Landesgalerie Linz, LENTOS Art Museum Linz, and the OK Offenes Kulturhaus Upper Austria show a representative crosssectional time line through the current local art scene, positioning Linz as a center of Austrian contemporary art.

Gudrun Kemsa has conceived her first one-woman show at an Austrian museum as a special compilation of selected photographic works and a video installation. In them, she repeatedly focuses her attention on the relationship between human beings and architectural situations. She cinematically scans and scrutinizes landscapes and public—primarily urban—spaces. The conception and effect of her works are intensively connected with the aspect of movement. Gudrun Kemsa succeeds in letting time become visible, in making space and time relative and reversible. Also see showing in Deep Space.

About the artist:
Gudrun Kemsa (DE) is professor of cinema and photography at the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences in Krefeld. She lives and works in Düsseldorf.
