Create Your World – Festival of the Next Generation

Does this sound familiar? You’ve always wanted to do something like investigate your own DNA or breed a new plant variety and name it after yourself, but you lack the necessary lab equipment.

Or how about this? A great idea has been germinating in your mind for quite some time, an idea for an object that everyone really needs and that could make a decisive impact on our future, and all you need to produce a prototype is a 3D printer and the right computer-aided design programs.

Or maybe, in light of how well hydroelectric, solar and wind power work, you’ve been giving a lot of thought to other ways and means of generating sustainable energy, and perhaps you’ve come to the conclusion that getting a helping hand from some smart people wouldn’t be a bad idea either!

Create Your World – Future Festival of the Next Generation now offers you a great opportunity to submit concepts and ideas for which access to technical support and the infrastructure of Ars Electronica GmbH and the OTELO open technology laboratory could prove to be the key ingredients to successfully implementing them.

What we’re seeking are inspiring, new and unconventional ideas for our future. Whether it’s a matter of artistic, social, technological or scientific innovation is completely up to you. What’s important is thinking things through to the next conceptual level and coming up with a project that takes your idea one real step further.

Under the aegis of the Festival, we can provide you with support in bringing your idea to fruition. Lots of youngsters will be taking part in Festival events and activities. They as well as Ars Electronica staffers and the OTELO team will be available to solve problems that might arise, to try out new things, or just to offer a fresh perspective.

Plus, you’ll have access to all of the Ars Electronica Center’s labs (BioLab, FabLab, RoboLab, BrainLab), sophisticated equipment (e.g. digital recording devices, video & still cameras) and specialists with expertise in precisely the area you’re working in.

Please submit your idea to us in the form of a text (minimum: half of an A4 page; maximum: 15 A4 pages). If you also have pictures, sketches or videos that could help us get the gist of your proposal, please sent them along too.

Responding to this call for submissions does not guarantee participation in Create Your World – Future Festival of the Next Generation. A panel made up of children, young people and experts will select appropriate projects to be produced.
