Create your Game

27 Young People – 10 Professionals – 1 Serious Game

Young people develop a social web game. On the 22 workshop days—seven of them during the Create Your World Festival—young people age 12-18 will get a rundown on the mechanisms of game design from experts in the computer game industry and the field of media pedagogy, which will enable the youngsters to develop their own game.

The first “AMD Changing the Game” project in Europe will emphasize teamwork, dealing with technological issues as well as coming up with a socially relevant story for the game—developed, of course, by the workshop participants themselves.

Following a comprehensive introduction to the art of storytelling in games, participants will jointly develop a theme, which will, in turn, determine the genre of the game. Five teams—programmers, graphic artists, sound designers, producers and marketing people—will carry out their respective assignments. How far will they have gotten in developing the game between May and August? You’ll find out live at the Festival! Visitors will be able to engage in some up-close-and-personal Q&A with the developers and create game prototypes themselves.
