[the next idea] voestalpine Art and Technology Grant ist ein von voestalpine und Ars Electronica jährlich ausgeschriebenes Kunst- und Technologie-Stipendium. Es würdigt inspirierende, neue und ungewöhnliche Ideen für die Zukunft und unterstützt ihre Weiterentwicklung. Künstlerische und soziale Innovationen sind dabei genauso gefragt wie Vorhaben mit technologischen oder wissenschaftlichen Ansätzen.

Im Rahmen von u19 CREATE YOUR WORLD werden einige der besten Projekte aus dem Jahr 2011 präsentiert, die sich mit den zentralen Zukunftsthemen Energie, Mobilität und Access beschäftigen. So stellt etwa das Choke Point Project die Frage, wer die eigentliche Kontrolle über das Internet ausübt, während das in Kenia angesiedelte Kiblight Project Solarenergie – und damit elektrische Energie überhaupt – einer breiten Bevölkerung zur Verfügung stellt. Der Automat Haberlandt wiederum kann aus Algen zum Verzehr geeignete Knödel zubereiten.

[the next idea] voestalpine Art and Technology Grant is an art & technology grant awarded annually by voestalpine and Ars Electronica. It honors inspiring, new and unusual ideas with great future promise and supports their further development. The judges seek innovations of an artistic and social as well as a technological, scientific nature.

In conjunction with u19 CREATE YOUR WORLD, we will be showcasing some of this year’s best projects that have to do with issues that are key to humankind’s future: energy, mobility and access. The Choke Point Project inquires into who actually exerts control over the internet. The Kibilight Project makes solar energy—and thus the first form of electrical energy of any kind—available to broad segments of the Kenyan population. Haberlandt is a sort of food processor that turns algae into edible dumplings.
