The voestalpine Klangwolke defines itself as a work by all, for all, and as such, it’s not going to take shape behind closed doors or in the ivory towers of the arts and sciences. This production is coming to be in open labs, apprenticeship workshops and music schools, and in people’s homes—kids’ rooms and work spaces, cellars and attics. The voestalpine Klangwolke is emerging wherever men and women have electrifying ideas and the energy to bring them to fruition.

Over the coming months, thousands of illuminating letters will be constructed, imaginatively decorated and equipped with LEDs and receivers. All the constructors are invited to bring their letters to Linz’s Donaupark on the evening of September 1st, when the artworks will get connected with the voestalpine Klangwolke.

All around us, there are countless sounds and noises, pieces of music and bits of rhythm. Anybody can assemble, record or compose a Klangwolke miniature. Or several. Regardless of whether it’s a orchestral work or the sound of motorway traffic, a guitar, a synthesizer or a rubber duck—anything that you can hear can become a Klangwolke miniature.
