Get in town and out to the country! We understand art as dialogue in and with the broad public. When we ask about our future, we do it where life happens every day: on the streets, squares and parks of the city, in shopping malls, industrial plants and, for the first time in 2020, on the campus of a university.

In 2020 we will stage a unique festival mile across the city of Linz, Austria. The venues include three museums and three universities, a cinema, a studio and a concert hall, the home of the independent scene and a cathedral.

Kepler Gardens at the JKU campus

For the first time, the Kepler Gardens on the campus of the Johannes Kepler University Linz will be the main venue of Ars Electronica 2020.

Ars Electronica Center

Situated on the northern bank of the Danube, its striking architecture has shaped the cityscape of Linz since 2009. The headquarters of Ars Electronica will be presenting several exhibitions, OpenLabs and Deep Space 8K during the festival.

OK im OÖ Kulturquartier

The OK in OÖ Kulturquartier is an exhibition house and laboratory for contemporary art and forms the perfect stage for the world’s best media artists and their award-winning works. Experience the CyberArts exhibition and meet the winners of the Prix Ars Electronica.

University of Art and Design Linz

The premises of the University of Art and Design Linz are located at the northern end of Linz’s main square. Here you can see the “Campus Exhibition”, which is traditionally played by an international renowned art university.

Moviemento

The Moviemento cinema is connected to the OK via a pedestrian bridge – here you can see the best animations of the Prix Ars Electronica.

LENTOS Art Museum

The LENTOS Art Museum is located opposite the Ars Electronica Center on the southern bank of the Danube.

St. Marys Cathedral

The Cathedral of St. Mary in Linz is the largest church space in Austria and a unique festival location. Here you can experience sound installations, performances and concerts.

Atelierhaus Salzamt

The Atelierhaus Salzamt is a cultural institution for local and international artists. A total of nine studios are available here. Five international Artists in Residence receive a small apartment and a studio. Four further studios are currently used by ten local artists.

Brucknerhaus

The Brucknerhaus has been a partner of Ars Electronica since 1979. The concert house traditionally hosts the Ars Electronica Gala, during which the winners of the Prix Ars Electronica receive their Golden Nicas.

Anton Bruckner Private University

The Anton Bruckner Private University for Music, Drama and Dance impresses with its architecture and technical equipment.

Stadtwerkstatt (STWST)

The STWST was initiated in 1979 and has helped to shape the development of the city of Linz. The former artists’ collective has developed into three initiatives that are now bundled under the umbrella of STWST: the Stadtwerkstatt Initiative itself, servus.at and the free radio station FRO. Within the framework of Ars Electronica, STWST offers a varied program.
